Blog Introduction

Hi all! So if you happen to stumble upon this page, I thought I'd write an intro of what this is. My son is currently 3 years old, and he is pretty advanced educationally. He's at a kindergarten level in a lot of subjects, but there are other things that he's not so great at. This is through virtually no effort on my part; he just picks up things very quickly. So I've decided to start giving him a formal-ish education here at home for the time being. I am a stay-at-home mom, so it just makes sense for me to do it.

I have been looking at curricula, and of course most people just say you don't need anything formal for preschool age. I think my child would do well with some more structure in his day though. So I'm kind of putting together my own thing. I thought as I did this I'd share what I did and my successes or failures. That way if anyone else ever searches for something like this, maybe I can help them some.

I'm still unsure what I will do with my child when it comes time for kindergarten.  I don't want him to be bored, but I'm not sure if I'm up for the effort it would take to homeschool him and keep him in activities to make sure he's socialized. That's a lot of work to do it well. There is a local charter public school that seems like it would be awesome because they let them work at their pace and above grade level. However, entrance is by lottery, so it really is luck to get in there. Oh well, I have a couple years to figure all that out. For now I just want to take advantage of his young brain and teach him as much as he can take in. Hopefully this will be a great experience!
